Istanbul, Türkiye – August 8, 2025 – The World Association of Political Economy
(WAPE) concluded its 18th Annual Forum at Yeditepe University, bringing together 70
political economists from 16 countries to discuss the concept of “multipolarity” and its
related global economic and political transformations.

Over three days, sessions explored artificial intelligence, ecology, the digital Silk
Road, socialist modernization in China, regional alliances, and the multipolar world
order. Discussions analyzed global power shifts from a political economy perspective,
grounded in data-driven research.

The Forum’s Final Declaration strongly condemned the genocide in Gaza as
“concrete evidence of the crimes of contemporary imperialism” and called for joint
research on imperialist wars. It emphasized the importance of resisting imperialism
and hegemonism in all spheres to achieve peace, development, and security.
